Doing
YouTube
Now that I’m done my M5 MacBook Pro review for music production video and the follow-up video, I’m thinking of finally posting a more personal video discussing my retirement from professional audio engineering work.
I want to be much more conversational and be myself in this video instead of my usual scripted ones, as I always sound so unnatural in them, but I’m unsure how to go about it. Maybe I should try to do it half-scripted instead of fully scripted and just allow myself to wing it? I’ve never done that and I’m worried the video would end up way too fragmented and ramble-y so I’m not sure!
I have to mull it over.
In the meantime, I plan to publish a “1 year later” sequel to my ergonomic chair video and talk about Anthros V1 vs Anthros V2. I’ve been comparing V1 and V2 for a few months now, and I have a whole bunch to say!
Blog
- I’m in the process of transferring my announcement of retiring from audio engineering and my two, frequently visited informational articles related to music production from Craft.do to this blog. One of the articles originally has a ton of embedded audio samples, which I removed when I first moved the articles from Squarespace to Craft, and I want to add them back in in this Craft → Bear Blog migration and that will take a while.
- I’m also thinking of adding some kind of readership survey to this blog for fun and adding a new “Misc” page in the navigation where I put all the pages that aren’t blog posts.
- Thinking of add writing a Cantonese version of some of my blogs and pages too to practice my Jyutping (romanized phonetic system developed for Cantonese) and do my part to promote and preserve the Cantonese language.
Long-term project
- Since June this year, I’ve been learning 🇵🇹 European Portuguese 🇵🇹 with the fantastic Practice Portuguese. Aprender português é difícil, mas é divertido e eu gosto! A minha esposa e eu vamos viajar para Portugal no próximo ano.
Entertainment
Anime: Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
I’m rewatching it along with my wife. It’s her favourite anime of all time and I really liked it the first time a few years ago. I don’t think I fully absorbed it then, so I’m enjoying this rewatch so far.
Game: Subnautica
Subnautica is one of my favourite games of all time, but, funnily enough, I never finished my save during my first playthrough because I was too scared. I “finished” the game by watching a playthrough on YouTube. I got the itch of playing it again after hearing about all the Subnautica 2 drama, and this time, I want to be brave and finish the game!
Music:
I’ve been listening to the OSTs from Into the Breach on repeat from front to back for a month now. I’ve never played the game, but I stumbled upon the OSTs and they immediately captivated me.
Book: The Resistance Painter by Kath Johnathan
It’s a historical fiction set in World War II Poland, written by a Canadian author. I’ve been reading it when I’m commuting and I’m enjoying it so far!
